Hello
I just completed my annual detail cleaning of my little arsenal;with two casualities.
Last week I got bitten on the thumb by an unappreciative M1Garand. That's the way I was introduced to it,some time ago.
Today, when I finished cleaning my double barreled shotgun, the firing pins would not recess into the breach, preventing the gun to close.
I got the receiver partially broken down, but, already I have a problem. There is a single large spring instead of individual ones for the sears that is illustrated in the old books that I have (Stoeger & Numrich)
The closest assembly drawing I have is for the Fox Model B.
The gun is inscribed:"the FULTON SPECIAL HUNTER ARMS CO, INC.
M E S FULTON N.Y. U.S.A.
Any help will be appreciated.

This is more of an "in general"' response as I'm not familiar with your particular gun..
IF I had this problem I would fist make every attempt to ensure that both hammer were cocked (I know how to do this on my old LC.. There should be some bar or CAM that can be manipulated to cock the hammers)..
Once I knew that it was cocked, I'd attempt to apply a small amount of pressure to force the firing pins back into the action. might even go so far as to use a bit of hardwood and small hammer.
Once the firing pins were back in, I'd inspect the firing pin holes for any damage, reassemble gun and check normal function WITH SNAP CAPS!!! I believe that these types of guns should NEVER be dry fired (unless manufacturer specifically states they can, even then I'd be hesitant).
The double that I have seen with this problem have either been dry fired, or were double trigger jobs that someone had shot both barrels at the same time.
I hope that some of this is helpful for your reassembly. Best of luck

Thanks,Nate
Your response was really quick.
I'm going slow on this. The more that I disassemble, the more that I have to remember how to reassemble.Checking for cocked hammers sounds like a good idea.I'll do just that.

I found a site dedicated to Hunter shotguns. It contained a lot of information about them, but not how to cock the hammers. They are different then the L C Smith.
If I could do this,I could reassemble the gun, without any further disassembly.

Hello,again
I found out how to cock the hammers, and reassembled the gun---without installing the single spring for both sears.Itfell out when I removed the stock,so I don't know how it was placed.
Does any one have knowledge of shotguns with this arrangement?
Frank
Frank, I don't know if this will help, but I think the gun you own is actually a Lefever. Lefever went through a few owners and name changes over the years.
Maybe if you can find a drawing for a Lefever, it might help. Sorry I don't know a place to look, other than GunPartsCorp.

Thanks, but the barrel is clearly marked the Fulton Special
and the other barrel Hunter Arms----------
I have the Numrich catalog with drawing for the Fulton, but it is for the more common models with a seperate spring for each sear.
FYI L.C.Smith shotgguns are also made by Hunter.Lots of information is available for them.
