Does anybody have any experience with Schaftol Stock oil?

Good, bad or in-different.

I have a couple Spring time projects, involving putting an Oil finish on a couple of Factory wood stocks, and was wondering about this Oil.

Thanx.

I always just use formby's high gloss tung oil, use the high gloss that way you can knock the gloss back to whatever level you want

I haven't used it, but have finished a bunch of guns with Tru-oil with great results. Here's a Ruger #1 done in Tru-oil.

Haven't heard of that particular product.

As with JB, I tend to use the Fromby's Tung Oil. Easy to buff down to a soft luster and equally easy to touch up.

I use both Tru-Oil and Tongue oil to finish stocks over the years. One thing I'd recommend is way more time between coats than you think necessary.

Tongue oil appears dry, long before it is hardened in the wood, and adding oil on top of an undried base is usually just a mess. Tru-Oil takes a bit longer. I usually allow a week for the first coat, and two for the second coat, etc.

With an oil finish, it's OK to add a coat every couple of years in the off season.
