Hi rimfire riflemen : I am thinking of dropping my 1022 mag for a bolt 22 mag.. had a ruger bolt that was special; hearing that they are OK; what comparisons would you make.. thought cz might be the thing and less expensive even but.. are there problems lot of problems? I want trouble free and accurate sporting to just under target performance...
thanks for comparisons, suggestions, warnings.
I would pay up to 600 -700 bucks easily for a performer.. used is just fine if necessary and possible .. rather not pay 1000 for a target match grade rimfire in 22 mag, as I will hunt some with it, but plink more with 22s and lots of pistols..
what say you ?

I have nothing but love for my cz 452 fs. Good looker and I have a .30 100' group with her. Mine is a .22 lr. You should be more than satisified with a cz especially the 452 & 453. See what the people over on rimfirecentral say about them.

I'll vote with coyote, the only gun with the same accuracy potential I've owned has been a Winchester model 52 heavy target rifle. I have a 452 Lux with Erik Brooks trigger kit in it that breaks at 1.5 pounds. It wears a Weaver 2 by 10 Classic scope and with no wind and target ammo will do inch groups off the bench rest at a hundred yards.
Here's a place to go look at some FAQ's on the CZ 452's and they are now producing the 453 with the single set trigger available on all the CZ centerfires. Read the FAQ section here.

Here's a place to look at some very good pricing on the 452's

Here's what my 452 looks like. This model has the hogback stock and a 25.5 inch barrel. It's very quiet to shoot compared to a short barreled 22.

I'll add another vote for the CZ's. Mine are all .22LR and are far more accurate than the Ruger bolt action I did have.
I prefer the 452 to the 453. I found the set trigger on the 453 to be a bit of an uncomfortable stretch for my fingers. Maybe I just have short fingers.:D:D
At any rate, shoulder each and pick the one you like. I don't believe you can go wrong with a CZ rimfire.

The CZ is on my list of rifles to by. I have seen out of the box rifles shoot under an inch at 100 Yds. You may be able to beat that with some high price rifles, but you won't come near it for the money.

CZ. Terrific value for the money.
I can't bring myself to feed a rimfire ammo at $10-12 a box, so I don't have a .22Mag except for my Single Six.
That said, I like my 77/22 VBZ. It's accurate and I use it for .22 practice with a "Real Rifle" feel. But at $799, it is over priced.
I have been at the range a couple of times, and I've watched a couple of shooters with the new Savage 93's with bull barrels and thumbhole stocks, and quality scopes. The 17's will literally shoot into a tack at 50yds, and I mean ten shots you could cover the entire group with a thumbtack, the .22Mag was really close to that. 1/2 the cost of the Ruger.
My daughters have a 452 Scout that shoots very nicely in terms of clay pigeons with open sights, function is flawless, finish is "kids rifle". The better grades of full sized CZ's are beautiful.
I'm sure the Remington Model 5 is very nice, but I haven't seen or held one. And at $369, could be worth a try.
But I currently have 3 CZ's in the safe, the Scout, a 527 American in .223, and a 20ga Canvasback .20Ga. O/U. The shotgun is beautiful for fit, finish, and function. People who have handled it think it's a $2K shotgun. The 527 is very accurate, and looks like way more than I paid for it.
