Hello, I just purchased a 1962 Winchester Model 94 in 30-30. It is a very nice gun. It shows signs of being used but it is in very nice condition. Whoever owned it looked as if they took very good care of it.

It does have one problem that I need help with. When the gun is not loaded the action works fine. It also has signs of wear but it works good. When I loaded a cartridge in it to check the action loaded I noticed it was hard to close at the very end of the action. Upon further inspection I noticed that the extractor was catching on the rim of the cartridge and to fully close it was scraping small pieces of the brass off that was in the way.

Is this piece supposed to angle up to slide over the end of the bullet or is it stationary. Has anyone ever seen this problem or does anyone have any advice.

If you go here there's a schematic of how the bolt is put togather and you also may be able to get the parts you need to repair it.

You should be able to move the extractor with your finger a little. If not, it's easy to lube from the top of the rifle. My thinking is perhaps the rifle sat alot and is kinda dry and siezed-up.

They are not all that difficult to tear down. Make sure you use screwdrivers that fit the slots.
