i have a marlin 99m1 made in 1969 and i recently bought a new hammer for it because the old one was cracked in half i got the new hammer from brownells when i recieved it and found out it wouldnt work because it was a new style hammer it just wouldnt lock and it would dry fire every time i let go of the lever . the old hammer had two points on either end of the top of the hammer most likely for more locking leverage. I just wanted to know if i need the model 60 old style hammer and if i need the sear because when i got it off my grandfather it did'nt have a sear. i am able to dissassemble reassemble it easily, if someone can reply to this soon it would be much apprieciated because i have a order from numrich gun parts being processed for the model 60 old style hammer thanks

sorry i forgot it has a sear or it would'nt lock thats the part that locks the hammer
