I had a question I thought some of you might have some good suggestions for. I just recently finished building a 22-250 on a Savage 110 action I picked up years ago. The only problem is that I enjoyed it so much that I want to do the same thing with .308; I would like to find just an action that I could start with. I would prefer not to purchase an entire rifle just to discard the barrel and stock; and save some money. NO, I'm not looking looking to purchase an action off this site; I don't believe this is very appropiate for this forum, but I thought some of you would have some good places I could look. I figured I could probably find a entire rifle a pawn shop, they are usually over priced. Would appreciate any ideas on finding one.
Thanks,

You might try Savageshooters.com and ask there. Big bunch of Savage... well, fanatics is the best description!
I've rebarreled a couple, usually I buy from pawn shops. 110s are not too pricey around here, run from $225 to $275, usually including a cheap scope. The only problem is everything I find is a long action.

You're more than welcome to post a "Wanted to Buy" in the Trading Post forum. Might be some board members can help you out.

Thanks Guys,
I'll try Savageshooters.com and I might post a wanted to buy in trading post. I'm just hesitant to post an ad. on here; I hate that some of the sites you go on is nothing more than just someone trying to sell something, and I would hate to see that happen here. But ya'll do a great job moderating so not too worried.

Your best bet is to buy a brand new Stevens ($200.00-$250) or Savage Package ($310-$360) and sell off what you don't need, an action alone is going to cost about $200.00.

Savage is now making target actions as separate items for sale. I don't know how easy or hard it is to get hold of them? They offer both right bolt handle right ejection port and right bolt handle left ejection port with an AccuTrigger adjustable from 6 oz. up to a couple or three pounds, IIRC.

Nick, I saw some of these on MidWay's site; I would love to have one but they are pretty pricey and I would still have to have it sent to a FFL dealer, but if it goes awhile and I can't find one I may opt for that.
Thanks,
Doc
I believe Fred (SharpShooterSupply.com aka SSS) often sells just plain actions as well. You'll find plenty of links to him/them at the Savageshooters forum. You'll have to call or look for one of their posts there to find just the actions; they're not listed at the website. Remember that you'll still have to go through an FFL since the action/receiver is the firearm under ATF rules.

At savageshooters.com
Look under "vendor Classifieds" and "Northland shooters"
tab. They have stripped actions for sale.
