I am thinking about buying a 17 mach 2 but I dont know what kind of animals it will be best for. I will be hunting fox at about 110+ yards. Will this caliber do the trick?

well the 17 mach 2 is excellent for all kinds of animals. All the way from as small as a chipmunk to as big as a coyote. This gun is capible of going 200+ yards, so this gun will do you just good.
I will have to disagree, the 17 Mach 2 http://www.gzanders.com/eley/17ball.html is really underpowered for coyote and marginal for Fox except at closer ranges. You owe it to the game to use a cartridge that will give a quick clean kill.

Too much meat damage to anything small (rabbits & squirrels) you intend to eat unless its a head shot. Not enough damage to kill bigger varmints like foxes and yotes unless you are close. Groundhogs might be good quarry for the Mach 2 if you are within reasonable range (up to 50 yds). If you want to hunt the bigger game, I'd stick with the tried and true .22 rimfires or possibly the .17 HMR.
i bought one of the savage mkII .17 mach2s they were closeing out without the accutrigger last spring an i ABSOLUTLY love this flat shooting, fast, and accurate round! i do think maybe a fox is as big as you'd want to go for game but mine accurate enough to put a round just about anywhere i want in 50-60 yards if i do my part... buy one an be happy like an old departed friend of mine would have said.... also they are such a cute little cartrage!! i just bought some more ammo for mine yesterday and again today.... i'm getting spring fever an i'm ready to go shooting anytime now... been a long crappy winter!
