I am thrilled with my recent purchase of a Mossberg 42MC. These rifles were made between 1944 and 1950. A military training version was made during WWII. This is a bolt action, clip fed rifle with a full walnut mannlicher stock. The sights are unusual in that there is a peep sight that can rotate out of the way so that you can use the adjustable barrel mounted rear sight. The front sight has four inserts that you choose from by "flipping" them up into place. There is a sliding dust cover that encompasses the bolt opening. Although quite rare, these rifles are not expensive.

My late friend Jerry and I roamed the woods with a rifle like this back in our early teen years. I think of him every time I handle it.

Zack:

I bought the Mossberg 42 at an antique arms show. I had to give up two portraits of Ben Franklin, but this rifle is in such great condition I didn't hesitate.
