You should Google "North American Hunting Club" This was one of the first hits in the search: http://forums.basspro.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=003554

Tell you what -- just send me the $12. I won't send you anything back, but then I'll never try to beat you out of any more.
Became a Life Member about 20 years ago. Wasn't a bad magazine and organization then. It has since been sold to a conglomerate that only cares for advertising and peddling all sorts of gimmicky junk for the money.
In all the 20+ years, I was sent an article twice to test. First was a liquid lens cleaner that ate the lens coatings off my nice set of binocular. They weren't happy with my report and never published it. Second was an emergency light that was supposed to be water tight. Failed that test and reported such. Again, no published report. They quit sending me testing articles and only kept my mailbox full of junk mail for all sorts of contests and stuff that I had no use for.
When the magazine comes, it normally gets skimmed for any worthwhile article and then gets dumped in the trash. It has ended up mostly a bow hunting magazine, anyway.

I signed on with this organization a couple of years ago.. after a year I informed them that I no longer wished to be a member.. They continued to send me Mags and letter wanting membership dues.. I didn't pay.. they now have me turned into a collection agency for back dues.
I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with them, but I'd not recommend anyone join. If anyone knows the best way to "get them off my back" I’d sure love to know.
Thanks
Nate

The North American Hunting Club's "North American Hunter" magazine is, in my opinion, similar in quality and articles to the NRA's "American Hunter". In fact some of the authors are the same. Several years ago I was at a Manitoba Caribou camp where an editor from the North American Hunter and a writer for both were "testing" a new model of muzzle-loader. Each wrote an article about the hunt, one appearing in each magazine (if one looks closely, I can be seen in the background of a photograph in one of the articles). However in reading the articles, it was not apparent that they were written about the same hunt and also not that it was the same hunt I had been on (I did, however, have a different guide).
One thing that initially appealed to me about the North American Hunting Club was their list of "Recommended Outfitters", however my experience (before joining the club) with one of those listed was not good (in comparison with most other outfitters I've used) and I met other hunters who described their experience with another "recommended outfitter" as even worse. On the other hand the Manitoba outfitter (where I met the above individuals, who are associated with the club) is not listed even though he runs an excellent operation (I've hunted with him 3 times).
An advantage of the "American Hunter" over the "North American Hunter" is that by joining the NRA to get it, one is also helping to support our gun rights. I do, however, consider both magazines better than the "Outdoor Life" or "Field and Stream", but inferior to Peterson's "Rifle Shooter".
I've recently subscribed to "Fair Chase", the official publication of the Boone and Crockett Club, and the writing quality, in the first issue I've received, is far superior to any other outdoor magazine I've read. It is, however, devoted to hunting and conservation and not to shooting.

I became a life member of the North American Hunting Club about six years ago. I received a very nice leather jacket. From that point on things kinda went downhill. I never got involved in their product tests, but they used to send me a lot of promotions for various items.
Now the only activity I see is the monthly magazine, which I seldom read. I got tired of Jim Shockey long ago. I guess I'm not their kind of hunter. I like rifles and shotguns with walnut, blued steel and classic lines; and muzzleloaders that shoot real powder and lead. Heck, a single shot rifle shooting a big black powder cartridge gives me a thrill. Their interests are not my interests.

You write them a letter saying that you are no longer a member, and that if they don't stop harassing you, you will report them to:
- The atty genl of CO
- The atty general of their state
- The United States Postal Inspector
If they don't stop, then actually do write these authorities, and send cc's to NAHC
