It's Morel mushroom season again. Didn't find any yet but I can't wait. I'll tell you what.... fried Morels and a steak from the grill with wild greens and a nice cold beer can't be beat!! Beer is optional. Sassafrass tea will do otherwise.

I have been hunting Morels for 3 weeks. I have been packing the 44mag for hog protection.:D Joking aside, I've found 160+ over a 3 week period. :)They were small, the black ones mostly and Beer Was not optional...it was mandatory.:p Q

A beer is mandatory here too. I used to gather all edible fungi yearround. I know that its been reported by a few that black morels can cause stomach upset when eaten along with alcohol. Fortunately they don't bother me! The thing here is I've got to beat the deer to them. There's too many deer on my property and they love morels. I mark with my scent to keep them away sometimes. i imagine hogs love morels too too. They use domestic hogs to find truffles underground.
