Has anyone tried one of these out? Was just at a Gander Mtn store and saw one for the first time. Looked OK, but fit and finish doesn't seem up to a Marlin 336....

Unimpressive.
There are a couple of features about it I like. The through bolt in the butt stock and the basic design of the receiver.
If they made it in a configuration (long heavyish barrel) I liked I would consider it.
As is, I would stay with a Marlin.

With production of the Model 70 beginning again, in a state of the art facility, can the '94 be far behind? Just something to keep in mind.

The problem is production of the 70 is not beginning again. FNH has been producing a clone of the model 70 for quite a while. Winchester is just selling the FNH with it's unique trigger a wood stock and calling it a model 70. It may look simular to the old model 70, but it is not the same gun by any means. This doesn't mean it isn't a quality rifle as the FNH's version are a very good gun.
I'd think that tooling up for a new 94 would be a much more expensive proposition than simply calling the FNH rifle a model 70 and selling it. I believe all the tooling at the old plant has been sold or scrapped. About the only way I see a 94 being resurrected is someone offshore builds it such as Browning did with the 1895 and the single shots they make.

I thought that it look pretty nice, from a hunting standpoint. If you are looking for an heirloom, your at the wrong place. Action is smoother than Marlins! I heard that it is pretty darn accurate too. For the price, I will be getting one at the end of next month!

I like mine. I have probably had about 600 rounds+ through mine now.
I have broken 3 extractors (on my 4th). And I've broken a screw on the handguard ring/band. But Mossberg has replaced them all, no questions asked.
Converted it to 30-30 Ackley Improved, and put a Skinner Lo-Pro sight on it (had it done in 6-48 to thread into the smaller Mossberg tapped hole). I love it, makes it much easier to use for me. I drove the rear sight blade out of its dovetail slot, as it was in the way.
Groups very well. It has slicked up a lot as I've used it. My dad has one that has fired maybe a dozen rounds, and its action is much stiffer. This is definitely a pick up and take with you rifle -- very utility. It's not pretty by any means, but that's the way I like my tools.
