Hello All,
I just discovered this forum and I wanted to take this opportunity to say hello and let everyone know that I have thus far enjoyed the sense of comrodery and the wealth of knowledge that I have witnessed here. I have always been a shooter and as I grow in my knowledge, it is very nice to know that this lifestyle is alive and well and represented so strongly on forums such as this.
I recently purchased a Marlin 30/30 lever action rifle and am looking forward to the experience of the little gun in both recreational shooting and hunting situations. Until now, I have never had the need (or desire...sorry) to own one of these rifles...though I have had many Marlins and Winchesters in the past through trades and dealings and you cannot beet their quality and dependability...hands down. However, when I saw this one...I felt there was something different about it from most that I have seen and I just had to have it.
It is a Marlin 336 LTS. The little barrel on this rifle set me off and I just had to have it. I would grade the gun in 85-90% overall...man this little rifle feels good. After a little research, I see that they only made this unit for two years ('88-'89) with just over 2600 made.
I got into the rifle for ...brace yourselves...$150.00. They guy had owned it since he was 17 years old. And aside from minor bluing wear and some very minor scratches and dings on the stocks, it's in great shape.
I don't feel that I did bad on this one at all. If it's quallity and shoots, I figure a gun is worth $150.00.
Man...I'm looking forward to shooting this thing tomorrow. Any comments or testimonies on this model would be greatly appreciated.
