An unexpected opportunity may be presenting itself. I may have an opportunity to go to Mozambique to hunt lion. I have never hunted in Mozambique.

I wonder if anyone might share their experiences hunting Mozambique. I am not a ranch hunter. I prefer hunting from camps in the open. No fences.

I understand that these Mozambique hunts are of the safari camp variety. So, that is good.

Anybody ? Any lion specific info would be great as well. We would be hunting “the man-eaters of Cabo Degado” . I've hunted rogue lions in the Caprivi before. These were young males that had gotten in the habit of eating cattle instead of buffalo. The local villages begged us for help. The entire net worth of these villages is their cattle. So when they are losing cattle every night it gets pretty expensive. Those villagers were some of the bravest guys I've ever seen. They were armed with guns and ammo you can't even imagine in your worst nightmare. Single shot "zip" guns was more like it. Anyway, I digress. The point I was going to make is that the rogue lions were not of trophy quality. They needed to be shot and we had special dispensation from the local game wardens but they still weren't trophies. If I go after another lion at this point, I want it to be a big maned s.o.b. if you know what I mean.

So, I don't know what kind of reputation these Mozambique lions have. If these "killer" lions are just rogues that need to be taken out or if there are quality trophies in the area.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

i too was offered a super deal on lion in Mozambique a few years ago. after doing quite a bit of research, the old saying " if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is" rang true.
there are some very unscrupulous south africans operating there and other countries so check it out to the fullest. sounds like you know the drill.
