I have a Winchester Model 71 with the the factory peep sight. The screw in apertures are missing.

I want to buy some replacements but the sight doesn't have a manufacturers name on it. Does anyone know what brand and model the sight is and where I can get apertures for it?

If I recall, you can find them in the Brownells catalog. If you can't find it on the web site or don't have a catalog to look through, let me know and I'll try to look them up for you. Greg

It depends, I think some of them had a Lyman sight and I think some may have had Williams' sights. If you can post a picture it would be helpful.

I have a Model 71 Deluxe that has had the original peep sight replaced with a Williams aluminum sight. While perfectly adequate, from the marks on the blue on the receiver, it's clearly not original. I read somewhere in the dim past that both Lyman and Redfield were original options. Which models were those sights? Which years were they available? Can I tell from the markings on the receiver and the screw hole placement which it is supposed to be? Does anyone have a source for the sight? My serial number is 403xx, post WW2 if it matters.

Here is a photo of my Model 71 peep sight. I have found some replacement apertures on Brownells as suggested but there are several thread types and sizes. I don't know which ones would work with my sight.

I took a chance and ordered some Williams apertures from Midway and they worked. The twilight aperture is not as good as the original but it will get the job done. The Williams twilight aperture has a brass insert around the inside of the outer ring. The original had a brass insert around the aperture hole itself which captured light better.
