Hi everybody, I'm a new member in this forum here.
And I'd like to know more about my ROSSI .
I's an INOX .44 levergun.
Somebody could tell me, what's this model...?
Thank you !

It looks like that rifle that Steve McQueen carried when he played that bounty hunter on TV back in the 1950's. Anything more than that some one else will have to know.

Yes sure it's a mare's leg, kinda gun that steve mc queen was carrying on "wanted : dead or alive"... Does someone know the value of this rifle ? One day I was told that the list price was about 1500$, but, in spite of having searched on an on on the net I did not find NOTHING... A collector one ? Some limited edition ? Anyway thanks for your answer !

I know a little about those guns, it's called a mare's leg, although I didn't know Rossi made one.
Where did you get it and if you don't mind my asking what did you pay for it?
You usually have to have a class 3 permit for those.

I believe they are made up as handgun receivers, that's how they get around the restrictions on short-barreled rifles.

The last ads I saw in Gun Digest were for a list price of $1495.

Well, in fact, this one has made a long way... up to France. I live there, and I did get it at 800€, something around 1000$, used one (but like new, never used). I'm a fan of american westerns... and a shooter also, although I'm more used in my club to shoot with s&w 586's and mr73's... and this one will be impossible to use and aim at a 75 feet target I believe, so it will remain under a glass for exhibition. Thanks you all for your answers. Can somebody tell which Rossi is it ? a 92' ?

Basi, the only centerfire leveraction produced by Amadeo Rossi (to my defective memory) since the late 1960's has been a copy of the Winchester model 1892. That copy is also the basis for your "replica" of an old TV western specialty piece. As an aside, I always thought it funny how McQueen wore a piece built to fire pistol rounds yet carried .45-70 rounds in his beltloops.

Sadly you are probably correct that functional accuracy is likely only a wish, what with its unusual and (to me) very awkward grip. From your photo, the lack to a front sight brings up more functional accuracy issues.

Who cares?! Take it to the range, load it up and enjoy it.

They had McQueen carry 45-70's in his belt because they showed up better on camera of all things.

You're right, BB. One of the many weird ideas that the movies drag about guns... However, I was told that Steve Mc Queen turned finally out to be a very competitive shooter at a national level, due to his rigorous training.
I also have a somewhat weird idea now : mounting a rifle scope on this Rossi. May I ask to some of you in this forum : do you believe it could work ? look great ? which scope do you recommend ? thank you

My personal opinion, for the little its worth- no and no. A very difficult to mount scope could only make an awkward to handle piece even more awkward. When all is said and done though, its yours! Whatever makes you most happy, do it. BOL
