I have a Lyman Universal Case trimmer and tried to trim .223, 22-250, and .204 for the first time. I noticed that the case is not clamped tight enough to keep it from turning when being trimmed.
I tried some 30-30 and .243, no problem.
Can't find the manual anymore so don't know if any adjustment is available.
Thanks

Looks like I need to contact Lyman. Per the instructios, the chuck should lock with about 1/2 turn. I have it all the way over and the case is not locked as it should be.
Thanks

"chuck should lock with about 1/2 turn."
Are you certain you have inserted the case rim UNDER the fingers of the case collet device?

1. Case has to be deprimed before trimming. This allows the ball to settle into the primer pocket, and center the case in the chuck.
2. I start turning the cutter and the case before tightening the chuck. The rotation seems to help the case center & settle in the jaws. I tighten the chuck as the case is rotating in it.
