I have just received the Lee Second Edition Reloading Manual. I found the 1st. Edition Lee Manual an enjoyable read and from the looks of things the Second Edition is going to be even better.
Cast bullet fans will find Chapters Nine and Ten very interesting. It is obvious that a lot of work went into these two chapters and they deserve serious study. The Sections: "Matching Bullet Metal to Chamber Pressure", "Pressure Not Velocity Dictate Bullet Strength" and "How Much Pressure Is Too Much?" while not new, reflect the latest thinking in cast bullet shooting and represent ideas not generally known or accepted by the shooting public. You can get the condensed version of this right on this board in a thread by Ed Harris.

I forgot to mention the name of the thread by Ed Harris, it is: Question on the limitations of soft lead, a very informative thread.

I got sidetracked and forgot to mention that there is a printing error on page 125 at the bottom of the page. There is a gap in the text. I'll write Lee about this this morning.

I agree, the new one is even better than the first one. I think it is a great book for the beginning handloader, and it had much to offer the experienced loader as well. It is well worth the price! I have to admit, I hadn't noticed the error........

Errors depend on which printing you have. Apprently they are only in the early ones. I spoke to a nice lady at Lee an she sent me the affected page. There are also errors on page 106 and 136 of my book. These are duplicated lines. It must be a formating error as they inserted the new material into the existing files.

The chapters nine and ten are really worth careful study by any cast bullet shooter.

The second edition is definitely better than the first and you get the inexpensive Lee Handloader in the deal. I mounted mine on my bench and use if soley for the Lee Factory Crimps.
