I bought a box of 45ACP 230gr FMJ bullets off Gunbroker that had a picture of traditional copper jacketed balls, which is what I expected to receive. Instead I got these shinny little gold things and when I took a saw to one, the gold color is throughout the jacket! They are made by ARMSCOR (Arms Corporation of the Philippines).
Has anyone had any experience with this bullet? Does the jacket clog up the bore any more than traditional copper?

Guess no one has used this bullet?
I loaded these bullets with 5.6grs of Unique and shot fifty + today. The recoil was a little stiffer than factory stuff but very comfortable. Have not cleaned the bore yet but I guess its OK... course not much used either.

I bought a case of South African hardball one time that looks like that. Three letter initial brand name. Orange and green box. Probably the same bullets. If their weight and size are the same as regular hardball, then they'd just about have to be a lead alloy of some kind? I don't know what would make it look gold? Some copper quantity, perhaps, though none of the copper-bearing babbit I've seen looked like anything but lead? In any case, they shot fine and didn't foul any differently than a jacket bullet.
See if you can measure one (length in particular) and weight it. If you can take a density by weighing suspended in water, that would be a good clue. Do you have a hardness tester?
