View Full Version : Beware Factory Sales

A word of caution for those considering ordering from Factory Sales. Factory Sales is close to Lee Precision and is an outlet for Lee equipment.
I placed an order with them about 5 weeks ago and had to cancel it. They told me the things I wanted to order were in stock, so I placed an order, only to find out via my email order confimation they are on back-order. I called several times at different times of the day to get an order status but no one ever answered the phone. It was only after my 3rd email request for order status that they responded and even then I think the only reason they responded was because I goaded them into it.
They charged my credit card on day one when I placed the order, they're not supposed to charge your card until they ship the goods. They wouldn't respond to my question as to why they charged my card without shipping the items I ordered. They would not tell me when they expected the items I had on order. So, after waiting beyond the time they said it might take to ship I cancelled the order.
Nope, won't be doing any more business with them. I can't think of a better way to loose customers than lousy customer service and less than honest business practice. I would have waited for the stuff on back order if they would have been more open and honest but I don't want to be charged for their inability to follow through on order fullfilment.

I know of some other companies that charge when the order is placed, even if it is backordered. But they at least usually are upfront about it and post that fact where it is easy to see. Thanks for the warning.

Midway doesn't charge until items ship, and Natchez won't even accept orders for out of stock items.
Sorry to hear about your troubles, I called Lee about my .223 case trimmer. It was backordered, but I didn't want a new one, I wanted them to realize that the shellholder wasn't up to the task. They told me that it was perfectly suited to any reloading task and said I must have abused it. They did offer to replace it, but I told them to keep it. Hopefully my Lee molds don't have any problems. I'm fairly certain I won't buy anymore Lee products.

I've never had the real Lee company charge me for anything they didn't have in stock. Factory Sales, which is not operated by Lee, is another story. Factory Sales kind of stinks, really. They give you the impression they are connected with Lee, and that they have everything in stock.

I have some stuff on back order from another supplier and it's been over two months! Six weeks ago they said it would be about two weeks and now they wont even respond to my emails. I don't care to name the supplier but i have been ordering reloading stuff from them for 15 + years but after this non communication i don't think i will order from them again.

I buy virtually all my reloading gear and supplies from Midway or Natchez. Both do not charge your card until the order is shipped. Both also offer an e-mail alert system to let you know when an out-of-stock item is back in stock. I use that alert system frequently so I don't have anything on back-order.

There are no "worthless" post's on this forum. This is a great place to share thoughts, ideas, and advice and every member that follows the rules has the right to his/her opinion. There are many boards out there that treat others rudely.....this is not one of them

I didn't think it was worthless either because i was just saying that factory sales wasn't the only company having communication problems. The real problem is supply and demand and i guess the retailers just can't keep up with all the emails and phone calls.

Scott that is exactly what I took from your post. It was on topic. It's just a matter of being able to connect the dots.

Scott,
Also if you are havng problems you might want to warn others before they do. That means name names otherwise it doesn't help anyone else. We feel for you though. Nice is as nice does, huh?

I think before this economy straightens out we are going to see a few of these internet shooting supply companies fold just like a lot of other businesses have. Poor customer service is a good sign that a company of any kind is having problems which will lead to no good.

I dont think its poor customer service.its that they cant keep up they are swamped.I understand Lee has one press they make 150 a day and have 2000 on back order.winchester makes 1,600,000 45 acp a day and has 200,000,000 on back order.if gun owners weren't in a frenzy to buy ammo
and then reloading tools there would not be this problem.I have delt with lee since the first and with midsouth many yrs.My order is backordered,so I will wait.every one is so impatent, they start bashing then if no one is left where are they going to go.Herters was a great place and it went, when the 68 law went into effect.I am an old man now 85 but I can remember when there were no presses but Ideal tools.now you have all kinds and your not happy.  :D

It's not Lee that is the problem, Factory Sales is an idenpendent outlet, a separate business.
