Can 454 Casull dies be used to reload 45 Colt ammuntion transparently?

I'd suspect not. The crimp operation might not work. Been wrong before though.

The reverse should work though. Same as 38 special working 357 magnum brass.

I use a Hornady 454 set for my 45 colt with no problems, and I've never heard of one that would not crimp the shorter 45 colt cartridges. Some 45 colt dies are not long enough to size 454 cases. Some sets are designed for both.

Jake is correct the only problem you may run into is resizing. Bullet seating and crimping should not be an issue but as with any of the big bores you are better off crimping as a separate operation with a dedicated crimp die.
