I installed a williams peep site on my 444p and want to remove the original site and install a dovetail blank in its place, how difficult of a job is that? if done right does it look good?

There are a couple of variations in Brownell's. The first is just a wedge that looks alright. The second has a lip that sits on the top of the barrel and looks great. Just have to insure that the blank fits the slot.

I have one installed on my Timber Carbine. If I remember it was around $ 9 - $ 10 from Brownells. They just drift in after removing the sight. Use a brass punch and it should not be difficult.

I have dovetail blanks in all my leverguns that have peep sights.
Some are Marbells, some are Lyman, and some are ???.

But they all look better than an open dovetail.

I put a piece of leather under the springy part of the sight so it won't mar the barrel, usually it's already worn or scratched underneath.

Someone, Williams I think, (don't quote me) has one that is a slip fit in the dovetail, but has an allen set screw in it. Makes for an easier instalation.
