Guys, I don't know a thing about reloading. I've been hanging around here for sometime
now, so i would like to ask you about this.
I found a guy that has a ( old Dillion Square B ) with a tumbler, some 45apc brass, primers, powder, & semi wadcutters. He said he just loaded about 100 rounds with it.
Anyway, he is asking $300 for it. Does this sound like a good deal? Should I just buy a
new set. What about a Dillion Square B? Are they outdated like me, or something good?
Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Did you compare prices with what is listed on the Dillon site?

Square Deal B is a good machine, but a new one has a base price is $350 set up for one caliber. I don't know what tumbler he has? If it is the big Dillon, then its $180 new, and that combination would make the $300 a reasonable price, in my view. The Dillon has a lifetime warranty. But if the tumbler is a $50 Frankford Arsenal or a small $80 Dillon, even, it's not adding a lot. The other question is how much is there by way of bullets, primers (hard to get right now) and brass? If it's a thousand of each, that adds another $100 of value, roughly, and that makes the price of the total package more attractive? If its just a few hundred it doesn't do much to the value.
Everything else depends how used the gear looks? If it is well-used, then he's probably saved more in ammunition than he's giving up in price recovery, and I'd figure maybe $200-250 would be what I would offer? If the stuff looks fairly new because he hasn't used it much, then his asking price might not be off the mark.

The Dillon Square Deal B is still their current model. You are not buying a discontinued press. All the other equipment is just icing on the cake. Depending on the condition of the press and tumbler, I'd say the price is in the ballpark.:)

I'd go along with unclenick on this one. I've used a Dillon Square Deal B for about ten years now with no complaints. If any parts break or wear out they'll replace them for free. Best there is.

Thanks guys!! It is a older unit and he has a Lyman tumbler, powder, primers, bullets, brass, for 1000 rounds.
45apc, 38, 44mag. dies, and a set of 243 hornady dies also maybe I can sell or trade them
for 9mm dies for the loader.
i'm going to pick it up tomarrow and then I'll be well on my way to TOTAL CONFUSION.

Fear not! You have made a good purchase! The pistol dies are a good thing to have. I have no Idea what the .243 dies are for since the press is for handgun cals. Maybe look on Dillon's website to find out more about the press/components,etc.

I've checked out Dillion's site I'm impressed with what I've found out about them.
No BS co.
The 243 Hornady dies are just extra's he had. It was his dad's stuff. Like I said, maybe I can sell
or trade them for something.
I'll pick it up tomarrow and then I'll send it to Dillion to clean/check ect. Then when I get it back I'll prove how dumb I am....
Thanks for the imput guys!

If you have ANY problem using Dillon equip. give them a call and they will walk you thru the steps to find out whats wrong be it the machine or you. They are great about helping folks figure out a problem and fixin it if it`s the machines fault! They are truly a no B.S. company. If you have questions about reloading ask the guys on this forum, I believe they can answer anything! I`ve learned a lot here just reading. Now if I can only remember it!

Sq D is for pistol cal not rifle
More specifically it's a straight case press.
Im new here but not to reloading. The Dillon SDB is a GREAT press. But not for the novice, the press can get ahead of the loader if he is not real aware of the whole process.
Yes, the price you mentioned is a Darn good price!
