I have a LeeLoader set for my 348. The mallet pounding type.
Is there any reason why I can't or should not chuck it in my Clausing and thread the outside so I can use in in my RockChucker press.

Me thinks it would be a lot easier to spend $25 and buy a set of Lee dies, but then again I am not a machinist.

My thoughts too! The lee deluxe die set is fairly priced and will make better ammo than the old stock lee loader.

I like to believe that all things are possible Tebsinar. I think you could if you got after it with the right tools.

If you have the proper tools and no money for a die set, make it happen!

Beware of making a mistake with your tools! You could end up worse off than you are now?

Nice to meet ya,

"I have a LeeLoader set for my 348. The mallet pounding type."

Should work fine...if you only want a threaded neck die. And if you can get the bullet seating system to work. And if you can get it the right length to work with a conventional shell holder. Other than that, it should be no problem. ???

I never checked, but assume the Lee loader's are nitrided to harden their surfaces. If so, you will need to grind the threads and anything else you change, such as the length of the die.

What is your time worth?

About $28.00 plus a few bucks shipping and you have a full set of new Lee dies.

The Lee Loader, since it neck sizes only and isnt set up like a press die, would be difficult to get to fit properly so it would work properly in a press so you could decap, size, prime and then seat a bullet using a modified Lee Loader die.

It would be neat if you could get it to work, but its probably cheaper and much more eficient to order dies for it.

Your hammer die set in 348 Winchester has collector value. To the right perso it is worth more $ than the price of a new set of dies. You would throwing money away.

Suggestion; If you like that hammer die set, you could buy an inexpensive harbor press. Northern tool, Harbor Freight etc... sells them cheap. I use a 3 ton from NT at my shop, it's good for the money.

+1 on the Arbor Press idea. Also an arbor press has alot of other uses around the shop.

From William: Your hammer die set in 348 Winchester has collector value.

WOW> Never thought of that.
My set is still in it's original box that looks near new. Any idea of a reasonable value.

You will have to trim the bottom of the die as well. The shell holder will prevent it from entering the tie totally. ALL IN ALL Bad Idea. MY +02 J.Michael
