Hi Folks, Long time since I last posted am still new and thank you again for the info on the old BSA. Finished this building this press a few months ago, my design. Might be an option for some of you wanting to get into reloading, build your own. Managed to build this from my scrap bin, the only cost was the shell holders, allen cap screws (for the shell holders), e-clips, and of course die, everything else is hand made.
Used to do a reasonable amount of reloading bout 10 + years ago but always on a borrowed press. This year decided to get back into it once I got late Grand Dads gun home. Tried to incorporate all the features I liked from various suppliers of single stage presses with the addition of a sensitive primer press. The main ram is 1-1/4" Diameter.

Cheers, Bob

I'd hate to think of the hours that went into that. Nice work.....

I have built some stuff in my life, and know what I'm looking at here, and that Sir, is some of the finest looking fabrication work I've seen, period.

Question : it appears that you have made the ram bushing replaceable ? I also am somewhat of a welder, and it looks like you filled the welds and smoothed them up ?

VERY Purty..... almost a shame to use it..... But I would !! .... :D

Thank you for the nice words. Yes, a few hours and then some to say the least. The bushing is shrink fit, don’t think it would ever come out again and you should change “somewhat” to more so, cause you certainly know what you’re looking at. ;) Lots of sanding.

Cheers, Bob

Shows what a man who knows his way around a machine shop can do. Believe you are not only an excellent tool and die maker but also an expert painter. Thanks for sharing!:D

That is the finest single stage press i have seen! I have read that it is very difficult to craft such a piece and get the holes lined up perfectly... looks like you are extremely skilled indeed. Thanks for sharing, Scott

Expert No. Learning, always. You are correct Scott, It is indeed critical that that all parts are machined to tight tolerances while ensuring mating surfaces are perpendicular. But this is not difficult once taught accordingly. Thankfully I have an Uncle, whom I would classify as a master machinist, who has been doing just that for I don’t how many years now and over the phone to boot. I’m sure some days he just shakes his head. If I can do it anyone can. All its takes is putting an idea to paper and jumping in head first! :) And, Of course, always pay attention to advice. Which is sometimes difficult for an old guy like me.;)

Cheers, Bob

Very nice indeed. You clearly have some talent. Now we need an ammo report.

Hope you have an awful lot of patience.
Need to be able to get the unobtainable first, can’t even try grand dads 06 unless I go the factory route.

Cheers, Bob

We found this home made press at the gun show after it's builder died.
It came with one magnum shell holder.
It is very heavy.

I wish the builder had written the story and attached it.

BSA, very nice job, but you actually had 1-1/2" 300# flanges in your scrap bin? Just giving you a hard time. Very resourcefull use of accessable hardware.

Very nice, it shows that if you want something done right, do it yourself.
Congrats

Hunter,
This proves to me that when I want something nice get BSA to build it.
Well done,
