i have not seen that before.
been to lots of walmarts all over kansas city, missouri and kansas and never seen any reloading supplys.
i live near kansas city and have a place down by lake of the ozarks. there are 2 small town walmarts in versailles and eldon, and they do not carry any reloading supplys. the walmart in eldon is old school, the type 30 + years ago little compared to todays stores. versailles got a new store 2 years ago fullsize with food.

Walmart's sports department heads have the authority to stock additional items such as reloading stuff if they wish. If it doesn't make money, fast, then it's soon gone! Mine had it for a few months some 15 years ago.

I was once looking for Reloader 15 powder and was surprised to find it at Wally World in Salida, Colorado, which is not a super-store. Right now that section is pretty bare, as it is in most stores.

While in Oklahoma on prairie dog hunts I found that the Wal-Mart SuperCenters in Enid and Woodward carried reloading supplies in the sporting goods section. I live in SW MO and no Wal-Mart in this area carries reloading supplies. One nearby Wal-Mart doesn't even carry firearms any longer. I asked an employee of the Woodward, OK store and was told that it is up to the store manager, and that any Wal-Mart can carry reloading supplies if they wish. The employee suggested that perhaps in the area where I live it wasn't politically correct to carry reloading supplies. I asked the department head of sporting goods at my local Wal-Mart if they could carry reloading supplies, and was given a very vague reply that Wal-Mart doesn't and can't sell reloading supplies. When I told the gentleman that some Wal-Mart stores in Oklahoma sell reloading supplies the gentleman told me that I had been misinformed, quickly excused himself, and walked away. I have a tendancy to believe that they just don't carry the stuff because it's not P C.

Walmarts in my area carry reloading supplies.
Same here, they are overpriced in comparison and carry very little selection.

I have seen the Scottsbluff, Nebraska store with reloading supplies, but I think that might have been an hallucination, because they also had enough checkers at the front of the store to handle the customer flow. Doesn't sound like it could be real, does it?
I also have a set of .41 Action Express dies that I bought from a guy in Alaska that have a Wal-mart price tag on them.

Walmarts in this area hire people who can't even say reloading in English. At best they have a cheap cheesy assortment of foreign made sporting goods.

we gotta keep this thread reloading related or it will get closed, no walmart bashing as easy as it is.

Wal-Mart managers have always had some leeway in stocking merchandise that is in demand in their area. It was a specific policy of Sam's and as far as I know (don't know anyone working at Wal-Mart, anymore, used to) it has never been rescinded.

Our sporting goods manager said he could order anything that
will sell. Need to ask him about reloading equipment. Was in Wytheville
Va. and they had some loading equipment. not much and it was
higher than some gun shops.

The Walmart at exit 7 in Va had Varget last week but not much in the way of bullet selection.

WalMarts in Anchorage AK used to carry reloading supplies and components but 5-6 years back phased them out.

Our Walmart in Salida, Colorado is starting to get a few things back on the shelves, even some primers and a small selection of ammo. I took in a gun show yesterday, also in Salida, and two venders had primers at $35 per thousand so things are starting to catch up.

Went to the local gun show yesterday for the first time in at least 6 months. There was plenty of powder, primers, and ammo - at very steep prices! Primers were upwards of $50 / thousand. FMJ ammo up to $1 / round, hollow points $2-$3 a round. Gun prices seem to be a bit inflated as well.
They didn't seem to be selling much. I found some .257 Weatherby brass so bought a bit. At this time I'd say the savvy consumer would stay with the on-line retailers.

Actually MikeG, fifty bucks a thousand is equal to or less than it would cost to buy from online retailers when you add the hazmat shipping, even if those retailers had primers to sell, which they don't have. On Gunbroker primers are still going for $65+ and shipping on top of that.

Correct, if you buy them by the thousand. I hadn't thought of that. For a sleeve of 5,000, it would save quite a bit, or if you can mix and match several different 1,000 primer bricks.....

I'm going to buy some IMR powder at $19 a pound or $130 for 8 pounds. I really don;t need 8 pounds but I don;t have anyone I know to split it with. So, I'll either get the keg or order 4 pounds of it, then add about $100 in bullets and get about 100 brass. That'll total up enough to make the $20 HazMat fee worth it...... I guess.

They started stocking the one in Fort Payne because several of use kept going in and asking for reloading supplies and the manager of sporting goods at the time was convinced they could sell it if they stocked it and was doing pretty good at stocking stuff. Not doing as well as when they first started but they do keep quite a bit of stuff in stock! If enough people jump them in your area, you never know, but you need a manager that actually likes to shoot.
