Does anyone know of a place that still has a set of 3 dies, for .38/.357 mag for the Hornady LNL press? My backorders from MidwayUSA and Cabellas(racing to see who gets it first haha) are continuously being pushed back... I keep searching for them but I can't find anyone that has them in stock...
Anyone got any? Know where some are left?
MIke.

Check with Gunstop Reloading Supply in Minneapolis, MN. Ask for John, 952-474-0211. I know he carries RCBS dies as well as other lines. Cant remember if he has the Hornady line, but it would be worth a try. Good Luck

Not a lot of dealers stock Hornady dies, or at least not a broad inventory. Lock, Stock and Barrel is one I believe does, and if all else fails call 308-382-1390 or 800-338-3220. The number is Hornady customer service, and like every other reloading manufacturer they sell direct to the public at retail.

IME, Hornady dies tend to sell for a bit more than the other brands hence not all dealers carry a large stock of them. In your favor is the fact that you are looking for a die set that's a very popular caliber so if all else fails try ordering direct from Hornady. I'd shop around first since the supply houses can usually beat the retail price.
The only 38/357 dies I have found in the past 2 months, outside of ebay, were from Cabelas made by Lee. I order mine yesterday and they still have them in stock. I use them on my LNL with out any problems.

Is the Lee a 3 or 4 die set? Reason I was looking at the hornady ones is because I like our 45LC ones and they have a roll crimp included in the seating die(3 die set) and I cannot use a 4 die set as I will be out of room on my LNL press.

Believe all revolver 3 die sets come with a roll crimp in the seater die so you are not limited to only the Lee brand. It's some semiauto dies that offer a fourth taper crimp die.

Mike... I have a used Hornady 3 die set if you want. You will have to buy the lock rings for it tho. Don't know where they are. Bought it at a gun show and never got a .38/.357 to use them with. Set is probably 15 years old. Send me a PM if you're interested.

I load 45 LC,45 ACP 36/357 and 40 S&W on a lock and load.I use a four die set on the 45ACP and 40 S&W on my Hornady LnL press. You must be using a powder check die after your powder die.I load with Hornady,RCBS and Lee dies on the LnL press.I can't speak for the newer Lee dies ,but going back about ten years, the lee dies, especially the taper crimp die, were too short to work well in the LNL press.I haven't loaded any rifle on the press yet,but plan to load my .243.I think the hornady seating die with sliding collar would work best for rifle.Sure wish a Vickerman seating die were long enough to work.

Just a thought, but Lee used to make a "Speed" die that uses only one die body, with different inserts to make it a carbide sizer, expander/beller or seater/crimper. You need a separate set for .38 and .357, but they are very inexpensive. I have and use both - in fact I prefer them to three-die sets. VERY clever engineering.
If they still make them, check them out.
I always wondered about the speed die. Maybe I will have to see if I can find one in 357 or 38 spl, or both.
