Hi: I just got my new Lee Classic Turret witht he Pro Auto-Disc from Cabela's (their # XJ-216337) and I started my installation. I'm having a problem with the Pro Auto-Disc that came with the swivel adapter already installed and the installation of the raiser and the expander die. The expander die is for a .38 special and is part of the Deluxe carbide kit.

When I try to screw the auto riser to the already installed swivel adapter on the Pro Auto-Disc (I know that it actually screws on to the Expander die - at this time I'm just testing that it all fits), it will not screw in all the way because the extension tube inside the riser will not allow it. However, I notice (I can't post the pictures as I do not have enough postings to be allowed to make attachments) that the extension tube in the riser is not going down all the way inside the riser (there is a lip inside the riser where I assume the extension tube rests). It seems like the extension tube gets stucked in the last thread inside the riser. My questions are:
- Do I have a problem with riser kit in that the extension tube does not go down all the way?
or
- If the riser kit/extension tube is working OK, do I then have to remove the swivel adapter that came with the Pro Auto-Disc and install the swivel adapter that I purchased separately ) that does not have an inner tube).
While on the subject of the riser, when I install it in the expander die (after removing the funnel adapter), does the riser extension tube rest on top of the expander plug that is inside the expander die?
I like everything I have read about Lee and the workmanship of their product, but I'm totally surprised by the lack of clarity and detail of the instructions that they provide. The documentation pictures are tiny, very dark and doesn't say much, and this certainly does not help newbies. BTW, I already sent an email to Lee but I would like to hear advise from the experts on this forum. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The tube that you are referring to, if I understand it, is the expander tube for the powder through die. If so, it is possible that a burr from manufacturing is holding up the tube. Take it out and see what is binding.

I would call Lee - they will answer your question. I am a dedicated Lee Precision user but their instructions need refinement. If you read them over and over the light will go on but I would just call them on this one.

Al-sway - you hit the nail on the head....it was a manufacturing burr on the last internal thread of the riser that was holding the internal tube from going down all the way. It does go down now, but it is not smooth.....I already emailed Lee and I'm waiting to hear from them. I'll ask for a replacement since has not been used. Thanks for all the advice.

They'll make good.

I would skip the swivel as it is unnecessary. Screw the riser into the powder through expander die, then screw the Auto Disk into the riser and run with it. Im running an Auto Disk on one turret (.357 Mag)and an Auto Disk Pro on another (.45 Colt) and the swivel I bought is just sitting in a box in the cabinet. it serves no purpose for me. The riser does all the work and yes, Lee's instructions aren't great. lol
