Does anyone have experience with Marlin's .308 Marlin Express. I must have lucked out on this one, everything seems to be in good order with the rifle itself (this hasn't been the case with the last few New Marlin leverguns I've purchased (3 of 4 had to be sent on down the road for a variety of reasons.) I haven't had the opportunity to do much shooting with this rifle/cartridge combination yet so I'm anxious to hear from any one who has. I'm also interested in info regarding reloading results with common bullets vs Leverevolution. I haven't seen much posted or printed about this cartridge since the marketing blitz to intoduce the cartridge. Thanks!

I have had very good luck with mine. It is not a 307 Winchester in power but it is not far behind. I have taken a few meat deer with it now and the factory cartridge kils well but not significantly better than our handloads. My 308MX is one of my most accurate lever-action rifles and will give many untuned bolt action rifles a run for accuracy. The cartridge is easy to load for and there are several threads about the 308 Marlin Express here on the Beartooth forum, use the advanced search function for more.
In this thread the 308 ME stuff starts on the second page and is spread throughout.

Here is a thread on making the brass with some reloading info too.

I haven't been a member of this forum for very long and haven't become familiar with some of the features. That will get corrected in a short (I hope) period of time. Your input is welcome.
My first few shots with the new .308 MX were quite satisfactory in light of the lousy conditions where I usually go to try out a new firearm. Rocky and uneven surface, erratic wind conditions, etc. make for poor accuracy tests. It's open range area on BLM land and it's similar to central Wyoming as far as wind conditions are concerned, very few trees (mostly sagebrush and scrub) a small amount of elevation causes considerable direction changes that can try your patience when holding for a calm period to get a shot off from a colapsable bench that is on uneven, rocky soil. At any rate the few shots I've taken so far seem to indicate this will be one of my more accurate rifles. It's nice to hear that someone else has a good opinion of the rifle and cartridge. Hornady's introductory press struck a chord and I decided to grab one of these handy rifles to add to my collection of Marlins. I think I'm a bit gunshy lately with the demise of quality from Marlin Firearms. Thanks again for the knowledgeable input.
