ok
I'm not sure if I'm in the right spot. but here go's . I'm loading 9mm with 124 bullets cast with lee molds. I'm trying to find out the right COL. my chart said 1.095 but it looks like the bullet is not seated all the way in the case. any thoughts?
thanks Phat Mike:confused:

Flat meplat bullet shapes, Like truncated cone, are normally seated shorter than round nose of the same weight. The general idea is that if your were to superimpose one shape over the other, the flat nose would nowhere exceed the profile of the round nose. That's supposed to guarantee feeding, though it doesn't always work perfectly.

About the shortest you can seat the bullets is so the leading edge of the bearing surface (the full-width part that touches the grooves in the rifling) is just barely sticking out of the case mouth. The longest may be determined by taking the barrel out of the gun and using it as a gauge. You seat the bullets out as far as you can without the casehead sticking out above level with the back of the barrel. That is usually most accurate if it still feeds. If not, head down toward the shorter limit.

Be aware that the deeper the bullet goes, the higher the pressure for a given load, so use nothing but starting loads until you settle on a seating depth, then work the powder charge up slowly.
