I would like to work up a load for a 1925 Winchester 94 30-30 25" octogen barrel using an RCBS round nose flat point gas check design that weighs 194 gr. + or - 2 grains I have a lot of H4831 powder and would like to use it. I have fire tested two rounds one in the 94 and one in my contender using 32 gr of that powder. The charge comes right to the bottom of the bullet and the gas check extends just below the neck shoulder junction. Upon inspection there is no apparent high pressure signs. Has anyone tired this powder bullet combo in the 30-30 what were your results?

I haven't shot that load so take this for what it's worth, but I ran a 200gr. jacketed bullet in Quickload in the .30-30 with a compressed load of H4831 and it was still under max pressure. With the lead bullet it should be a bit less than that, for decent hard alloys anyway.

I have shot that bullet with a load of 34 gr of IMR4831. It is very accurate and you can't get enough into the case to be dangerous or even close. Since H4831 is even slower, you are operating at even lower pressures. It seems like I did try h4831 also with almost identical results.

Velocity was about 1795 fps from my 1954 20" model 94.

I have used it and got good accuracy and low pressures but H 4350 did better in my rifle. You will not be dissapointed.
