Looking at a copy of the Lever*Guns magazine by Rifle mag. I saw a picture of what was said to be a 1895cb chambered for 38-55. I dont see that on Marlins' web site. I don't suppose they made on in 30-30 did they, cause I sure would like to have one. May just have to make one myself.

They made both 38-55 and 30-30 with Ballard style(conventional) rifling, but the designation was 336CB, not 1895CB(45-70). The 38-55s had groove diameters around .379-.381" and wouldn't accept groove diameter bullets because the chambers were too tight. I know of a few guys who had their chambers opened(enlarged at the front) to allow groove diameter bullets.
As much as I like the 38-55, my CB is in 30-30 as I ran across it used in like new condition. It too has a larger than normal groove diameter (.310") and should be a good cast bullet shooter.
