Please accept my apologies as i'm sure that this has been covered somewhere here, but to date, i have had little luck finding it.

I'm trying to help my grandfather restore my great grandfather's Savage 1899, chambered in 30-30. It is in decent shape overall, but somewhere along the way, someone - and i don't know how exactly (lucky for them) decided to drill it out for something larger. I am hoping to find a barrel somewhere, in almost any condition, so that i can have it properly repaired. The rifle may never fire again for all i know, but i would like to have it cleaned up to hang on my wall with pride.

If anyone has any suggestions on where or how to search this information out, please let me know.

The date of manufacture is 1916, serial number is available if you need it.

Thank you!
Justin

Why do you want to repair it if it's just a wallhanger ? To replace the barrel

would also destroy originality.

I assumed you checked here?

www.e-gunparts.com

There are a few Savage-specific boards.... other than that I can't think of anything.

Good luck.

NO ONE offers NOS or takeoff Savage 99 barrels in .30-30.

Short of having an expensive custom barrel made/fitted/mounted for the rifle, AFAIK the only way to make that rifle serviceable would be to have the barrel rebored to .38-55, which uses the same size case as the .30-30 - but might not fit your rifle's magazine spool's machining cuts.
If the .38-55 shells don't fit your mag spool, you'd have a liyyle bit better chance of finding a .38-55 spool as a parts purveyor then a .30-30 barrel (snce your rifle was also offered in .38-55 at that time).

You can have the barrel relined. Any such work will destroy the collector's value, but it sounds like that is not a concern anyway. Relining can be done that is almost impossible to detect. That would maintain the appearance as is, and restore the shooting ability with the original caliber.
