Hi every one!
I'm new here so be nice please LOL.
I just bought myself a Winchester lever action .22lr model 250.
And i have a question.
Is there a way to uncock the gun. I cant figure out how to do this.
Please help.

Typically with a lever gun, you hold the hammer with your thumb, pull the trigger and slowly and carefully let the hammer down. When you're ready to fire, cock the hammer with your thumb and you're ready to go.

I don't KNOW that your particular model works that way, but i'd try it on an unloaded weapon to see.

the only way that i know of would be to dry fire then load magazine tube. since there is no external hammer there would be no other way that i can think of. there is a safety on the front of the trigger guard to facilitate safe carrying while loaded. but no way to drop internal hammer other than dry fire.

I'm sorry , i should have mentioned the model 250 is a hammer less lever action.

Thanks. This is what i have been doing and . You have helped to confirm my suspicions on uncocking the rifle. I think i'll have to go buy my self some snap caps. I'm not real keen on dry firing any gun.
Again thanks for your help!
