I made a scope base design that will accept Conetrol or Weaver type rings or others. The design is specific to a model 71 Winchester (the 348 cal) lever action.
Good part about it is it would allow a person to add a scope to a rifle that has a side mounted receiver peep sight and no permanent modifications are required.
That would allow people that don't want to ruin the collector value of a gun to add a scope.
The setup would place the scope centered over the barrel forward of the receiver, in Scout configuration.
The base would be secured by using the 2 screw holes for the receiver sight and the dovetail in the barrel.
The piece can be made from steel or aluminum.
I will provide a copy of the design to anyone interested (Free via email)

The rings I designed for are the stud type.
Anyone who is competent could adapt the base design to accept a clamp style ring.
