Many, Many years ago during another "Sit-Down", as Mr. John Olin called a get-together, we had Col. Whelen again. We were finishing up the yearly sales meet in St. Louis. We were all kicked back listening to the Col. with great pleasure, talk very informally, about guns and ammo. One of our new men. I'll call him Charlie X (he might be still alive), was very enthhusiastic and wanted to make a good impression. The Col. was talking about favorite old rifles, when Charlie X 's hand went up. "Col. I understand you stil hunt with a Winchester Hi-Wall single shot in .30-40 Krag.........Why don't you switch to a .30-06 since it is has 123% of energy the energy of the .30-40 Krag?"
........................(sound familiar?).....................................
The Col. looked at Charlie X, lit his pipe slowly, and answered," Charlie...... I would, but you see I have never killed anything 123% dead!"
............somehow it seems we run into a lot of Charlie X's now days on these forums...........Best Regards, James
