Last tuesday, Kathy and I were advised, that our daughter Chris had suffered a siezure. That night we were in Flagstaff. After a week of test, saturday, we were informed that Chris had a stage one brain cancer. It is not just fatherly pride that prombts me to say that this is a very specal youn woman. At 28, Chris is married and the mother of a six year old daughter. Chris has earned her degree in accounting and is an avid hunter. With turkey, javelina, mule deer, antelope and elk on her list. Her favorite hunt is for quail and doves with her 20 ga.. To top it all off, Chris is as sweet as she can be.
This morning we recieved the "expanded diagnoses". The cancer is a stage three, not one. The prognosis is pretty bleak. Please remember her in your prayers. It may be the only thing that can help. Thank you.

Bob,
Sorry to hear about this. If you don't mind I'm going to move this to a different forum where it may receive a little more attention.

Bob, thankyou for letting us share in the privilege of praying for Chris. Lots of people will have Kathy and you in their prayers too, and Chris' husband and daughter, and those God-given neuro-medics and radiologists. At this season, we've got more time to pray, but our God doesn't need more time, he can intervene in a nano-second.
Have another look at Psalm 139 verses 1 - 18. Here it is in ESV, sorry to take up Forum bandwidth.
Richard
O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,"
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there were none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.

Christmas day Kathy and I will head back to Flagstaff to be with Chris and her family. Kathy and I have read your post with deep interest and would like to thank you for the comfort we found there. We will take a copy of the thread for Chris to read. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. God bless you.

Sir,
As BigBlue said, it breaks my heart to read about the challenge your family faces. I'm not the brightest guy around and God doesn't always let me in on his plans, but one would sure think he has special needs and plans for you daughter if that time comes sooner than expected.

There are those who are far more eloquent that I am .The only thing I can offer is heartfelt prayers for the peace of our lord to be with you and your family. Miracles do happen and I believe prayer does work.May the peace of the lord be with you.

Hi Bob -
I have a friend who about 10 years ago recovered from advanced brain cancer by miracle alone. The physicians gave up hope. We prayed like crazy, and those prayers were answered and she fully recovered. I'm asking God to give you the same result for Chris, and comfort to all of you, in Jesus' name.
Sincerely,

Back in 1968, when I was 14 years old, I spent the summer in the hospital. At it's worst in July, I was far closer to death than life. Got the "Last Rights" of the church (Catholic). My doctors knew I was going to die. So did the nurses, my siblings, friends and grandparents. My parents could not give up. Prayers went out all over. Medically speaking, I was simply about to die. The odds were at least 1000 to 1 against me. I am soley alive by God's grace. When I die, it will be soley by God's grace.
The only "problem" with playing the odds is that God is in control. If God says you will live, you will live. If the same loving and caring God says it's time to come home (the ultimate and final healing) then you are going home. He hears our prayers and has great compassion for us. Our work is to move closer to God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit) and trust His perfect will.
I remain in prayer for your daughter. Nothing is impossible with God. NOTHING!

My heart goes out to you and your family in this matter.
Do not lose faith,because the greater the need ,the greater is the miracle that fulfills it.
GOD stills answers prayers.I will pray that GOD will give each and everyone in your family the strength to carry you through these times of trouble.My prayers will be that your daughter will be returned to perfect health and that GOD will be greatly GLORIFIED in her life.
As a word of encouragement,I will relate the story of an uncle whom was stricken with an inoperable brain tumor.
About 15 years ago he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that
was so entertwined with the brain stem that the doctors gave
him no hope beyond 30 days.
My aunt passed the word that Uncle Mitch needed prayer,many people were praying for his healing.His life was spared for in the following 10 years the tumor disappeared.
Uncle Mitch has since passed away in his old age,but I still give thanks for that Miracle every time it comes to mind.
I will have her name and your families added to the PRAYER LIST at CHURCH.
YOU are LOVED in CHRIST,
WC

I also pray that our Lord Jesus will heal Chris and give her many wonderfull years as wife, mother, and daughter. I pray for the peace that surpasses all understanding to be on you and your family, and especially on Chris herself, so that she might face this time with confidence that the Lord is in control no matter what the outcome. As her father I pray the Lord to give you strength and wisdom and the knowledge to understand and deal with every aspect of this illness. I pray that her husband would be strong in his faith and guide his family through this with confidence and trust in the Lord. I pray that all the doctors and nurses and all other health care workers concerned would be given wisdom and insight and that whatever happens the name of the Lord will be Glorified and a great witness given to all who are effected. I know that He loves us and He told us He will never leave us or forsake us. Where two or more are gathered in His name He is there with them, and He sits at the right hand of the Father and interceeds for us.He loves us so much that He was willing to die for us so that we should not fear death. Death where is thy sting, where is thy victory. On that great and glorious morning we shall mount up with wings as eagles and even though now we see as through a glass darkly, one day it will all be made clear and we will see and understand everything and how all things have worked to glorify God and advance His Kingdom. Amen and Amen. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

There is a update that I should have poster a few days ago. But first, Kathy, Chris and I would like to thank each and every one one of you for your prayers and kind words. I have copied all the sites and gave them to Chris who read them with great intrest. She had a smile you could see a mile.
The latest from the doctor is that is no hope for a cure. Chemo and radiation treatment may prolong her life and improve the quality of her life, but thats all.With treatment, she may live four years instead of two. Looks as if prayer is all there is left. Concidering some of the places I've been and have seen. there is no doubtin my mind about the existance of God. I've His deft touch to many times to have any doubts. Please keep your prayers coming, Chris needs them.

Hi Bob -
Live full each day and continue to hope and pray. I will join you in that.
Yesterday a buddy drove by to visit me. Three Novembers ago he was diagnosed bad with cancer, and he fought it and we prayed and still pray and he is still going.
How fortunate you all are to have each other. What a great gift.
Most days have challenges. Some more than others. Keep going and keep hoping.
God bless you.
Dave
Please know that you are all in my prayers, and let me offer a ray of hope as well. I am a three time survivor of cancer in one form or another, and the Lord has bestowed upon us such wonderful intelligence, that we seem to have new and better treatments happening all the time. It is also my hope and prayer that in the near future a new drug, surgical technique, and outright divine intervention will beat this and she can live a normal life once again.
It's a lot to ask, so I'll keep asking Him and maybe He will get tired of me and grant my wish.
My God bless you and show you the way.

Big Bob,
Our prayers remain for Christine. With the love God has for us, to say there is no hope is simply a lie to weaken us. Like others have told, I too was GUARANTEED to die as a youngster. There was no clinical/medical reason to hope for life. But I did and with a full recovery. My Mom was GUARANTEED to die 5 years ago. Everything was failing and she was medically within a day of death. Deep in her coma, she heard a voice that told her, "it's time to wake up now." So... she woke up. In 48 hours she was out of intensive care and a week later she went home with a 100% recovery. Medically impossible. Anybody who tells you there is no hope simply will not accept that God is in control.
With the God of the Bible, hope lives for our time here on earth and our eternity. We keep praying because we know that with God, HOPE LIVES!
