Not everyday that you get to play with one of these. Weapon in 9x18 Mak caliber was captured and now rest on my desk. Have ammo, but no mags for it at present. Captured a WWII German MP44 yesterday also with no mag or ammo.

Weapon was standard issue to Polish forces (SF, armor, vehicle crews) during the Cold War. Design was completed and first delivers was in 1964. Fires at 650 rpm from the open bolt. Selector is the trigger itself, light squeeze-semi, long-automatic fire. Weight around 1.6kg. Was issued with belt, thigh holster, 1x15 rd mag and 3x25 rd mags. Weapon can be cocked one handed by pushing down on muzzle extension. Caution was serious during firing for when using forgrip, fingers could end up into line of fire. No longer in service in the Polish Army.

I hope to get a chance to shoot it before I leave here.

Follow up on the PM63 got ammo for it and still looking for a mag. Finally figured out how to disassemble it. Lock bolt half way to rear with safety (take down marks on left side of frame and slide), twist muzzle of barrel 90 degrees (like baby browning), rotate safety back and easy slide off. Remove recoil spring and guide, barrel and slide. Thing is beautifully machined and the only stamped part is the folding butt plate on the retractable stock.

Finally got a 25 round magazine and some ammo (9x18mm Mak) together. Fired first sereval rounds semi from 15m without the stock. Rounds hit the 3x4" target. Next extended the stock and tried to fire a few more rounds semi. Some were two round burst due to trigger itself is the selector. Did take use to using trigger and when to immediately release to get single shots. Very controlable in full auto. Ran out of ammo before I could do any longer distance shooting. Maybe next go around. Took two months of looking before I was able to aquire the magazine and it also locks the bolt open on the last round and you can't close the bolt until you remove the mag.

Hey, my dad used to live in Poland during the communist era and is showed him the picture and he told me that his firends used to be in the army and they let him shoot it behind a bar one night. It used to be given mainly to tank operators because the AK was a little to big.

Lieutenant,

Yours is a Polish manufactuered one also. The 11 inside a oval is the Warsaw pact factory located in Poland.

"State Armory in Radom employs 6,000 workers and produces the Kalashnikov assault rifle

I have owned several guns from Radom factory, a P35 late WWII production pistol, a 1953 dated M44 Mosin-Nagant carbine which I still have in the states. In Iraq have had the PM63 and several AKMS underfolder rifles.

As far as disassembly its been four years since I took one down and don't have it anymore. I do remember that you twist the barrel to unlock it for removal. Working with the Polish Grom (thier Special Forces) back then they old guys remembered it and refered it to the widow maker (you could shot your own finger off if you were carefully).

Lieutenant,

Weapon was captured and not issued to US troops. Also, if you reread my second entry here (I just did too) it has how to disassembly it. There isn't much info out on this weapon. I do not know why it is stamped MS 0630. Where are you located? I don't remember how the weapon was marked and didn't take many photos as I've done one this last trip. Here's a Polish AKMS with the mark that I used lately.

hey COmbat ,

i read all this thread before(this is the only thread that has info on this weapon ),but i just wanted to know more about THIS WEAPON AND HAVE some photos for the disassembly procedure.

I ALWAYS HATE THE REASSEMBLY PROCEDURE BECAUSE I ALWAYS MISS IT..... SO THAT S WHY I NEEDED SOME PHOTOS ......

AND YOUR DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE IS NOT VERY WELL UNDERSTOOD :twist muzzle of barrel 90 degrees (like baby browning), rotate safety back and easy slide off. Remove recoil spring and guide, barrel and slide. Thing is beautifully machined and the only stamped part is the folding butt plate on the retractable stock. ?????? SO HOW TO ROTATE THE SAFETY BACK AND WHAT IS RECOIL SPRING AND GUIDE , BARREL AND SLIDE...... .(I AM DUMP IN THE TECHNICAL WORDS) ......

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPORATION

Lieutenant,

I had the same problem when I went to disassemble the gun (lack of info). I can't not provide anymore pictures since I left the weapon in Baghdad in Mar 04' (that was three trips ago and haven't seen another since) and I'll work from my memory. The disassembly procedure I'll talk you throu works with the selectfire version (not sure what you have). Suggestion: Take digital photos of the disassemble yourself for future reference.

1. Extend Stock
2. Look on left side of slide for the two disassemble marks (one on frame, other on slide) Line them up by pulling slide to rear.
3. Lock slide in place after lining up marks with safety (safety located on left side of pistol grip at rear) Rotate safety lever to lock slide open
4. Look at the muzzle and notice machined indentions around muzzle, twist the barrel 90 degress (sorry, don't remember which direction, but will turn only one way)
5. Unlock the slide by rotating safety back.
6. Slide should move forward off the reciever. The slide, barrel, recoil spring and guide should now come off the reciever (like a auto pistol)
7. Seperate slide group components.
8. Reassemble is in reverse order.

Hope this help.
