I am seeking information on replacing the newer Remington J lock saftey. What all needs to be done to the shroud etc to get rid of it?

I have an extra old style bolt shroud, will this work?

Appreciate your help.

The replacement is easy. Replacement shrouds are available from www.brownells.com They have several styles. I even found red and blue ones at another internet site. The shroud unscrews from the bolt after relieving the tension on the firing pin spring. I think the shrouds from brownells had an instruction sheet with them. If not, most over the bookstore counter gunsmithing books cover bolt disassembly.

I didn't see the last part of your message until I had posted my reply. Your old shroud should work. I found one source that was simply selling the old replacement part shroud.
