Can I use 53gr bullets with my 52gr loads?

Probably as a general guideline, but you should work up anyway to be safe. For example... the 53gr. Barnes "X" bullet isn't going to have the same pressure as the 52gr. Sierra Matchking, with the same load.

My Sierra 50th Anniversary loading manual shows the same loads for 52 gr MatchKing HPBT and 53 gr MatchKing HP. Of course always work up loads when approaching MAX as MikeG stated. For my own 220 Swift my best accuracy is using the 55 gr V-Max with max load of H414 per the Hornady Manual. Velocity is chrono'd at over 3800 fps with accaracy over any other bullet. I read that several other Swift owners find the same results.

Would be better to work up whenever swiutching bullets, even if switching between two of identical weights...bearing area and jacket hardness can vary. Esp. important when switching from a BT bullet to a FB (or the other way arround). As far as the 1gr. difference, that's cutting pretty fine hairs.
