I have 1 BSA Platinum Target Scope, on my 21" .223 contender barrel, that's my only experience with one. I love it, and was thinking about getting a 3-12x or higher for deer rifle. So, any remarks, post them if you got em!!
Thanks!!

Wolf,
Now that age has finally effected my sight, I use more of the 4X-12X and 4.5X - 14X scopes for deer hunting. My personel favorite in the 4-12x is the Leupold Vari-X1. You don't have to focus the eyepiece and it, like all Leupolds, is very clear.
Also lightweight.
I use and abuse my rifles and scopes, and hunt hard. I have a lot of confidence in any of the Leupold scopes. But I wouldn't recomend the new wind river series available through the discount houses now being offered. I could tell you a story but I won't.
Buy quality and don't look back!
That little 4-12 VariX 1 is about $239. Not a bad price.
Good Luck,TPV
The only BSA scope I've got is the Platnium target, also - the 8x36 with the parallax adjustment on the turret. It's mounted on a Ruger 10/22 heavy barrel target rifle, so it doesn't get much recoil at all. I don't know how a normal or standard BSA would hold up to heavy recoil. As TPV says, the better made scopes today would be Leupold, Burris or such in the moderate price ranges.

I have a BSA 3-9X50 scope on my .270 and I love it. I haven't had any problems with it at all and I think the optics on it are real nice on it.

While I usually stick to Nikons or Swifts (depending on the firearm) I have one cheap BSA Deerhunter that has been on and off more rifles than I could shake a stick at. (3x9x40)
I'll usually stick it on a new rifle, work up my handloads, then decide if the rifle is a keeper or trade fodder. That BSA has been on everything from a 22 hornet to a 450Win mag and has always performed well. Whenever I have had a gun that wouldn't shoot for me I would always double check it with another scope to see if I would get the same results.(after checking and trying different reloads) As I type this post it is mounted to my .257 Roberts where it will stay until I can afford another Nikon. But then who knows, that rifle is producing sub MOA 5-shot groups consistently.
