The Ruger 204 looks interesting to me. This cartridge may prove to be a great adventure in loading and shooting. I plan to buy one when they become available locally. I am torn between the 77 and #1. I expect someone else will soon chamber for it- Savage mabye?

From what I've seen of the ballistic numbers on this round, it should prove to be a great little varmint round, out to about 300 yards. I'd like to see what other gun manufacturers picks up on it, and start production. With most of them coming out with new offerings early in the year, we may have to wait a year before seeing new guns in this round.

Ruger is "supposed" to be shipping in March - how soon they actually trickle down to the retailer around the corner is another story.
It piques my interest - last thing I need is another rifle in the vault, but - who knows? Modified an existing M77/22 Mag into a .17 HMR and enjoy it thoroughly, so the .204 isn't out of question at this point.

Looking forward to getting one for coyotes mostly. There is definitely a big caliber gap, 17-22. Can't wait to see how it will do in the pelt damage department.

Like the concept..a 5mm/222mag. Is room enough for a new round, and I wish them well with it. After looking over the ballistics (think it was in Shooting Times?) I'm not going to run out and buy one.

i was thinking about buying this cal. after research i dont think i will be getting this cal. if you reload you can get a 40 gr from a 22/250 4200fps and a 35 gr 4400fps
i am not saying the 204 going to be bad or any thing i dont see the need to have one if you have a 22/250 or 220 swift if i didnt have a 22/250 i would be one of the first ones in line to buy the 204

I would say that this will be pretty close to the already existing 19 Calhoon, based off the .22 Hornet, which looks awesome.
Check it out here: http://www.jamescalhoon.com/
Also available in a 19-223 caliber.

What ever powder Hornady is using for that cal 204. The powder is not avaliber for hand loaders yet.
If that helps out. Rob

Just bought a Browning Medallion in 204 ruger. They don't even list it in their catalogue.Great shootin' rifle and caliber.I've been loading the 32 gr.Hornady v-max and Varget powder. This is a very accurate caliber so far.Haven't tried it on prairie dogs yet. Just got it sighted in.
