Who is going to be the first company to chamber the 454 Casull in a lever action. I know, Iknow Rossi makes one, but I'm talking about Marlin and Winchester. These are the only two brands that I would purchase. I would think that either company would be jumping through hoops to get one of these on the market. Marlin has introduced the 475/480 this year, so whats the deal. I myself think that there is a greater demand to be fulfilled by a 454. Can any modern Marlins or Winchesters be rechambered for this round. I love it out of my Ruger SRH and can only imagine what can be achieved out of a rifle barrel.

DO YOU HEAR ME wINCHESTER AND MARLIN!?!?!?!

I do not know if W or M will ever chamber the .454 in their leveractions.

I do know that my little Legacy (Rossi) has rapidly become my favorite rifle. I am confident that a 360grain hardcast will drop anything I turn it on and find it very easy to download for smaller game.

You are short changing yourself I think.

Now that Marlin is chambering the 1895 in the .475 Linebaugh/480 Ruger, it kind of shoots their old argument about not being able to handle the .454 in the foot, since the .475 Linebaugh is also a 50,000+ PSI round. It was always said the .454 was too high a pressure for the 1895/336, but if they can do it with the .475, why not the .454?

Rossi Puma 454 Casull was the first Lever action rifle chambered for that round. I was one of the first to buy one when they first came out, good little shooter, just not setup right for a scope, good for cowboy shoots, really get heads turning, nice fast short action lever. loader has a ball with his. I traded him for a SRH 454 Casull, we are both happy campers;) Neat Little rig,you can load through the tube or gate, holds ten rounds;) The reason I traded it, due to there is nothing the 454 casull can do that my 450 Marlin can't do. If there is not a place as a tool for my hunting, I get rid of it;) No use letting a rifle sit in a gun cabinet for nothing but collecting dust. Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

You can go double check these figures but I'm pretty sure the .454 Casull is loaded to 55K CUP as a factory cartridge which equates roughly to 60K+ PSI. Are there SAAMI pressure standards for the .475 Linebaugh? The only commercially loaded .475 ammo I know of is from Buffalo Bore but I don't know what they have accepted as a maximum working pressure. The Marlin 336 may be strong enough to handle the .454 but why would anyone buy a 336 chambered for the .454 when they can have a 45-70 or a .450 Marlin? Even if the Marlin M94 could contain the pressure of a factory .454, I doubt that essentially a .45 Colt with another .1" in length will cycle through the action. As far as the Winchester 94 is concerned, they tried to make the .480 Ruger work (which operates at .44 Mag pressures) and I don't think it succeeded. Does anyone out there have a Win M94 in .480 Ruger? I suppose the only way you'll see a Marlin or a Winchester come from the factory in .454 is if Winchester retools their M92 line or Marlin radically modifies their M94. In any case, they're not going to stick their necks out if they don't feel it's worth it. I suppose if I had to have a .454 Winchester I'd sacrifice a Big Bore '94 in .375 Win. to a gunsmithing project... assuming I had an extra one, that is.

Personally, I doubt Marlin will actually make that many .475's; however, I wish them success in their venture. Perhaps if the .475 Linebaugh is successful, Marlin will introduce a .476 Marlin on a 2.1" case! Actually, I think they missed the boat on the .475 Linebaugh because the .500 S&W seems more appropriate for the 336 action. My guess is they're trying to appeal to those who have plunked down the cash to convert their Ruger Bisleys to .475 Linebaugh and figure those owning a Freedom Arms .454 have had ample chance to purchase a .454 Puma as a companion to their wheelgun.
