The other day i was offered the chance to shoot a 28GA levergun, the guy just bought it used and there were no markings what so ever, Dark Natural wood stock 16" barrel or so. non-adustable sights. i was wondering if anyone knew of a lever-shotgun of such i didn't even know they made leverguns that fired shot shells. very nice though, hit a couple of bird with it.

In 1887(I think it was) Winchester introduced what I believe was the first lever shotgun. It made another model after that as well. These were mostly 12 and 10 gauge. Arnold used a cut down one in Terminator 2. Some were later modified with rifled barrels and chambered for the .70-150 cartridge.
Winchester offers new ones now in .410 shotshell.
That's about all I know, there are not many around but they have been there for a bit.

Hi again 44. Australian Defence Industries (ADI, who made SMLEs under licence during 2 world wars and who make good powder now) have produced a few prototype 5 shot lever-action 12ga. They still haven't cracked the problem of shell feeding with variable quality cases. Queensland Gun Exchange has got a couple of these prototypes for sale at around the AUD2000 mark - say USD1600. www.qldgunexchange.com
Marlin have a .410 to compete with the Win 9410. I LUUURVE my 9410, when I can get it out of my wife's hands who loves it even more.

Winchester brought out the 9410 lever action .410, and have been selling all they can produce. Hard to come by unless you order. I had a chance to fire one: VERY smooth action (like greased ball bearings), never had a problem chambering shells, and found I could hit 4 out of 5 clays the first time I tried it.
I'll have one when I have the bucks saved up.

Carignan577,
The other one you maybe thinking of is the 1901, same gun as the '87 but with a new name and chambered in 10ga. only.
