I just saw a M94 with a serial # indicating a 1955 date of manufacture. The gun is in very nice condition- obviously used, but not abused: it has a few very minor dings or scratches, no rust, bright bore, and the bluing and stock finish intact.
What would a fair price be for this gun? (The dealer's asking $370.00 for it).
Thanks for your replies.

For a 45 year old gun I think 370 dollars is a little high...thats just me.

From what I've seen on the internet auction and selling sites, if that 94 is in 80-85% condition (a few handling and hunting scratches with some blueing wear, no gouges, pitting or shot out bore) then its a pretty good price. Most of the time, if they are better than about 85% condition, they bring $450-550. Mint or NIB condition brings A LOT more.
Appears to be a good honest price for a 85% rifle (if it is 85%).

A 70% specimine should "book at about 300.00 or so dollars if you would consider the one in question at least 80% that price is probably on track provided the finish is original and not refinished in any way. Most of these lately are being put on the market way over book price ( especially on line ) if the condition merits it I would jump on it. I had a chance at a 1950 .35 Special that someone at the shop thought was a 70%er and had priced for less than 300.00 In my eyes the gun was real close to 90% and I should have made sparks peeling money out of my wallet but I hesitated and it got scooped up from under me.Some of the larger chain type gun stores that deal in used are manned by some youngsters that are pricing guns thats are 3-4 times their age and you'd be surprised at how little they know about grading a guns condition. If it is'nt stainless and synthetic they will deem a gun poor condition if it has a scratch or two on it as much as I feel sorrow for the fella that sold it to them I will gladly take it off their hands at the less than market price.

I have a '58 that i sure wouldn't take $370 for. I gave $100 for it about 15 years ago when a guy wanted to trade it in, and the shop offered him $75. I've been offered $450, so the price on the one you're looking at should be right in line.
