I'm thinking about getting a Marlin lever action in 480 Ruger. Has anybody out their shot one. Any in put on that caliber? Please Help Me. Rob

I shoot the 480 in a 9 1/2" SRH. It's a real thumper. The 1895RL's real potential is in the 475 Linebaugh, not the 480. Since the gun platform is the same as the 450 and 45/70 I might look to those for a first big bore.

Hi everone:
I finally received Puma 92 in 480 Ruger last Thursday. Have been waiting for two years. I was not dissapointed. Visually this a very atractive rifle,all stainless steel, 20 inch barrel with high-vis sights. Action is tight but smooth and one of the best factory triggers i've had. Put 200 rounds through it on Sunday, 50 yard 5 shot groups from bench 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inch. Took down rams at 200 meters with ease. I love this gun. Hope I don't have to wait as long for my 1895RL to come in.

The last I had heard, the Marlin 1895RL in .480/.475 wasn't expected to be out on the market until late '04.

Spoke with a dealer-distributor in Arizona a couple of weeks ago, He had receive two 1895RL's out of an initial order for fifty. He had 16 of the fifty presold and had no idea when he would see anymore. I have an order placed with three distibutors but will not be holding my breath. I am not in such a big hurry now that I have my Puma 92 in 480 Ruger
