Hey guys,
I have a .444 marlin with the XS Ghost ring sight system on it and plan on putting a scout scope mount on the gun as soon as tax returns come back. My question is this, which would you rather have, a scout scope from either Burris or Leupold. Or a red dot style scope. I have found a red dot scope from aimpiont the model is 7000L2X. It has a 2X maginfication and a 2MOA dot. This scope has unlimited eye relief so putting it in a scout mount should be about right. The reason I am so interested is it has virtually the same magnification as a regular scout scope and really small red dot. 2in @ 100 yds seems not to big not to small. The cross hairs on the VariXIII Leupold on my .270 probably cover roughly the same area at 100yds, (I have the Heavy Duplex rectile). With 11 brightness settings and such a small red dot this looks really good. 70% of my shots with this gun will be under 100yds with the rare possiblity to stretch out to 150. My only reserves about it are its ability to handle the recoil from my .444 and it is about $70 more than a Burris and just a little more than the Leupold. What do yall think
