Timing is everything in life... to the MT people - we've been talking about posting the 32ws data we've been working on for the last three months... we'll, the day we were going to announce it on MT - that was the day the MT was no more (timing is everything). Anyway - the data is there : 29 powders, 5 powder weights each. The bullet is the std 170gr .321 lead rnfp, the velocities are in the standard CAS range 1000-1300fps. The data was taken with a 22" 336. To the longtime Shooters Forum members, you're likewise most and very welcome to the data. [of note: it looks like the 32ws shooters of the past were right - the 1:16 barrel is much friendlier to lead bullets than the 1:12 of the 30-30.]

Greg,

Thanks for the info. My very first deer was taken with the .32special and helped develop a fondness for beat up ol leverguns (this one road in the trunk of an old Buick with a bunch of coon hounds)

Are you folks planning on doing a workup on the .45/454 in a levergun? (canyapleasehuhcanya)

Scotty -

We could. Originally, our plans were to go to the 475 r/l next... but right now the idea of putting $'s in Marlin's pocket for a new 1895rl - well it's just not as warm/fuzzy as a week ago (really feel burned in how they handled the unplugging of MT). So... maybe a 45lc is in our future. Do you have any suggestion as to which bullet weights/forms we should be looking at? And I assume we're talking CAS type data, right? [otherwise, we're just starting to work on 25-35 and 219 CAS data, 44-40 to follow.]

But over and above that: many many thanks for Beartooth and the crew for hosting this forum - it's very much appreciated.

Greg,

Thank you for posting back.

I would think that bullet weights in 255 & 300 would be sufficiant to start.

Even in my Rossi .454 I find that there is plenty of use for CAS level loads. There is plenty of data for top end loads (and some a mite over the top!) yet I find myself shooting more of the plinker level stuff when plopping small game and rocks, cans, and cowpies. You folks seem to use quite a wide selection of powders and that is handy info in my book

Since my handguns are mostly chambered for the Colt, I find that the Rossi goes alot of places and gets fed alot of .45Colt ammo.

I know that there is alot of data on Sixgunner/leverguns and PacoKelly's site but a little more never hurts.

If you get around to it, I will read it, guarenteed!

Gotta be a torture job shooting all those loads.

Thanks, Greg.
I'm not interested in CAS but I am working up gallery loads for my .30-40 Krag-Jorgensen carbine and I'm using your data for .30-30 AI as a starting place so I appreciate your site.
Quick question, does "H2400" denote Hercules 2400 vs. a Hodgdon powder?
