I just put down the deposit on a like-new 1892. :D Can't wait to get it home. Great deer rifle for still hunting/driving in eastern hardwoods. I was wondering if anyone has any stories they would like to share about this rifle.

Sounds like a great find. Fired a friends way back in 84'. Great little carbines.

You made a good move. That may be the best 92 ever made. I got one off the shelf in '84 and compared it to a friend's original Winchester in unfired condition. It appeared to he and I that the folks at Miroku did a better job than Winchester ever did in terms of fit/finish & smooth. Of course, that is only comparing it to one gun though.

Dad gave me a Browning B92 about 20 years ago - it was near-new at the time. Since then it has been a favorite and for many years was my backup rifle for elk and deer hunting. Every year I would make a point to hunt with it at least one day.

At the moment it is my only unscoped levergun, and I will keep it unscoped. Dad always claimed it was the most acurate rifle he had owned. The best 100-yard 5-shot group I've shot was under .7" center to center, more a testament to the gun than my aging eyes.

Just one word of caution -- the rifle is so light it kicks like a mule with full-house loads. I find the 300g/1531fps loads to be much easier on the shoulder than the 240g/1880fps loads.

I wanted this rifle for the same reason that you use yours. My Rem 760 in .35Rem is a great gun for these purposes, but that 1892 is oh-so light to carry. I hunt PA whitetails in the thickest of laurel and pine bordered swamps (where 50 yd. shots are considered long) when the weather has got the deer holed up and bedded. No need for bolt-action beanfield rifles on days like that so I jumped on the chance to own this Browning. Don't get me wrong; if the weather is right and the deer are moving I'll post with my CZ in 7x57, but I like to be able to move to the deer if the deer aren't so inclined in moving to me. I'll probably go the rear peep/ fiber optic front bead route with this rifle, and wonder why it took me so long to come to this easy to carry, quick handling, pleasure to shoot solution to my still hunting requirements in a rifle.
