Has any one had experience with the M-6 Scout? I thought it might make a good .22 for up here in the Bush. With its iron sights how accurate is it and would the scope mount be worth the investment? Will the 4:10 handle the 45 colt rounds? What was the most accurate .22 hunting grade ammo used? Were there any problems with the quality of the Scout?

Thanks for your imput: Leon

Have had three of them...the current ones are better than the old ones. Two were 22/410's and one was a .22hornet/410. Marking on the last tow were "CZ" and the quaility of construction was good.
First: the trigger is just odd. Designed to be fired by sqeezing the long trigger with two or three fingers, it's a "rolling" trigger...more like a short double action cycle than a crisp trigger. Can fire it by moving you hand back, and using one finger, but it still is more of a (somehwat gritty) DA pull. Can lear to do decent work with it, but precision isn't in the mix.

So far as I can tell from using various 45/410's, none of them shoot .45colt all that well. I'm assuming here you are talking about the versions that were MADE to take the 45lc and not trying to pump one out of a smooth bore. Don't, the normal smooth bore is tightly choked to about .397". It's not just the long jump to rifling, it's that the space between .45colt case and rifling is pretty large (so the .410 shell will fit)...lots of room for a bullet to get a bit crooked on the way to meet rifling.

Yes...it does do it's job, and I could shoot them pretty well. Have taken small game with the .22 and the .410barrel.

the first one I just traded. The second (the .22hornet) was sent off with a good firend of mine when he moded to Alaska. The third (another 22/410) is in a case, in the duffle bag of tools in the back of the Jeep.

Yep, i gotta agree with Ribbonstone on that one. I used to have one myself in .22-410 config. It was accurate enough, but defintley not a bench rest setup. And YES i do agree the trigger is horrible. But i still sucsessfully took squirrels and chucks with it. I would defintley buy another one.
