View Full Version : Lever loop

As a relative newcomer to the big-bore fraternity, I have taken a few steps into preparing the gun for the task at hand. Borrowing the sling from my .270 and installing a custom scout scope mount (thanks BigRedhead) and a Leupold 1X4 (thanks Jackfish for the recommendation), after squeezing that first shot into a hog, I already had a second target in sight but was a bit clumsy cycling the second round. Do any of you guys have a larger loop to assist in a quick-cycling of the next round(s)? Where can these be found and is it a do-it-yourself job, or do I need to take it to the gunsmith?

I have read about getting an "action job". If I decide to get the loop, is the action-job basically a no-brainer while it's on the bench, and what does this involve?

Thanks,
CPA

CPA,

Can I assume you own a Marlin Big Bore?

If so ...
- see my DRC Glove Lever photo folder at:

The only thing I've ever heard about "adjusting" Dave's lever had to do with a WWG trigger:
... Do you have a WWG trigger?

You can get the DRC Glove Lever at:

Stock Number of DRC's Glove (Big Loop) Lever
100-000-546
Note: This is one of several Stock Numbers based on Marlin Model #.

How does the DRC lever feel/handle ? I'm trying to personalize my Marlin, and some of the large loop levers out there just don't seem comfortable, and some are just plain ugly. I've been wanting a Marbles tang sight and a 'large' loop lever, and this one seems to fit the bill.

Oldebones - The DRC Glove lever is just the best modification I've done to my Guide Gun, thanks to Bill Conrad! :D It's not too large and feels better than the stock lever from Marlin with gloves on or off! You won't be sorry you got one. I'm waiting for Brownell's to get a 336 glove lever in stock for my .35 Rem right now.. Good luck! CEJ..

CEJ-

Did you install the loop yourself or have it done?

Not only did I install it myself but, that link in my post takes you to the pix I took of that (my) install process :D

Bones,
Like CEJ wrote ... it feels right
And, that non-rectangular shape reduces the recoil effect on your shooting hand ... glove or NO glove!

Bill,

Very nice. I'd like to invite you to submit this as a Tech Note to the site. Just put a few words together with the pictures, and mail it all to the webmaster, if you would like to do so. Might PM Marshall Stanton to let him know it's on the way via email, if you decide to send it in.

cpa-y2k - Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I had Dave Clay do it while he was doing some other modifications to my rifle but it is a simple thing to do and Bill C.'s instructions are great. CEJ...

I just placed my order. It will ship when they get more in stock. I just can't believe I didn't see it in the catalog before.
BTW, very nice looking rifle!

Shoots real sweet too.
The TakeDown feature's remarkable technology ... also makes cleaning lots less work.

Bill Conrad,

Very nice looking rifle. You must have a lot of time and effort invested.

I would like to know what adjustments need to be made to make the "Wild West Trigger" and the DRC Loop function well together.

Thank you.

Thanks Bill,

I sent you a PM reply. Still learning to navigate this site. So if you don't see it, it's 'cause I messed up.
